My personal favorites were I'll never let you go or "angel eyes." By Steelheart and Magnet and steel (I don't remember who wrote that one though?)
They were cheesey long haired 80's bands where the lead sngers had a really high falsetto voices that sounded like their balls were in a vice. It was cool!
And another was "When I see you smile" By (I think) Jon Voight?
A ballad is actually a simple lyric. A poem that can be set to simple music by definition, so there are so many I can't begin to name them all... There is a ballad for each generation of different music. Check the pop charts through the years for the #1 hits and there will probably be a ballad in every group for that week year and month.

Well there are a number of folk songs in the ballad category that have been recorded by numerous artists over the years. I know for example that Shennandoah was recently recorded by Bruce Springsteen, and was formerly recorded by Bob Dylan and Pete Seeger, among others.
In fact Springsteen has just released an album with several American folk ballads on it including, John Henry, Old Dan Tucker and others.
Many of Bob Dylan's songs are ballads, among my favorites being Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts and Hurricane, which is a song about Hurricane Carter, a boxer who spent much of his life in jail.
I would also regard Dolly Parton's Jolene as a ballad. The Cowboy Junkies' Bea's Song is a ballad. Dire Straits' Romeo and Juliet is a ballad. Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues is a ballad. The list really goes on and on.

One of the most famousof the *true* ballads I remember was "The Ballad of the Green Berets". From Wikipedia:
""Ballad of the Green Berets" is a patriotic song in the ballad style about the Green Berets, an elite special force in the U.S. Army. The song was written by Robin Moore and Staff Sgt. Barry Sadler, while the latter was recuperating from a leg wound suffered as a medic in the Vietnam War. Moore wrote a non-fiction book, The Green Berets, about the force."
Check out the last link below, go down to "Examples in Music" and it has a list of albums and singles that are *true* ballads in music today (as opposed to just songs that are sort of sung like ballads).
Hope this helps!! Good luck!

In a public school you will need a teacher certification - which will require a BA and student teaching. During student teaching you will receive no income for 16 weeks unless you work nights (VERY difficult during student teaching). States offer different options for the certification. Some offer Early Childhood Ed which is birth through age 8 (third grade) that would let you teach K, but some only offer Elementary (K-6). Both are different than the degree in Child & Family Development that many schools offer. While it also trains you to work with young children, it does NOT certify you to teach above preschool.
Another option is to find out if any of your local public schools offer a preschool program on-site. Its a growing trend and many schools are piloting preschool programs. Not sure if they would require you to be degreed or certified, but you get the same benefits as a public school teacher and would most likely earn quite a bit more than you do now.
I would suggest contacting a school and asking to "shadow" a K teacher for a day to see what a typical work day is like. Mention to them that you work in early childhood ed as a preschool teacher and are considering pursuing teacher certification. I assume that you are required by your preschool to have a criminal background check and TB test on file. You might mention this to them as their volunteers & employees must have these.
Also, some larger preschools offer tuition reimbursement for teachers intending to become degreed or certified. If yours does not, there are also several scholarships from ECE professional organizations at the state and national level that might help you with the financial aspect of continued schooling. Best of luck!
