Having become less pleased with the quality of Prismacolor colored pencils recently, I am looking a better alternative. The Faber Castell Polychromos pencils and the Derwent Signature colored pencils seem to be at the top of the list. Any feedback on either of these brands

I like Faber the best... i recently started doing pencil work and found thourgh trial and error that this one holds up very well, i tend to be heavy-handed, also a large color selection..and ease in mixing colors (making colors) .

for shading its great (with a light hand(smile)).

the colors adhere well.
go with faber

I like Faber Castell best of all. Mead and Berol are good too. I have some old ones by Empire, but they're inferior to the brands listed above.

Yes, Faber Castell are great! They color as beautifully as Prismacolors but they dont break as often.

Well, many choices I guess...
But my choices are :
Neocolor series ( carrandache ) : not only colored pencils, but crayons, pastels, and aquarel too. Too bad it's expensive
Lyra : Somehow the same as carrandache, but cheaper
faber : yes, it's everyone's choice in the world
Derwent : yes, they are good, too, and popular.
Conclusion : your choices couldn't be more right... ^ ^
Try carrandache and lyra if u can afford it. They have good quality too!!
