What do you think of the girls feelings about this man and saying she didn't miss anything while held captive? Poor child I feel so bad for her but I don't understand her thinking, she said she was sad that her capture was dead. I have know way of knowing what this girl went through or felt so I guess I shouldn't ecspect to understand but it sure seems odd, what about your thoughts?

sorry to correct you but the girl is AUSTRIAN and not Australian. What this girl is going through is called Stockholm syndrome, its a well documented mental state. Of course everyone with any heart will feel sorry for this girl ,but the good news is that there is so much specialist help available to ensure she has a full recovery from her terrifying ordeal.

I guess when you have spent 8 years with someone no matter why or how you would miss them if they died. She is probably still young in her mind since she had no chance at real life. There is thing called Stockholm Syndrome which is when a person starts to identify with their abductors, and to believe as they do. This is probably why she is that way. Also since they think she had sexual relations with him there is that big link.

She came to identify with him after being alone with him for so many years. It happens. It's not at all odd that she feel the way she does. It's actually more common that you think among people who spend that much time as someones prisoner. She had to trust him in some ways, I mean geez, he did feed her. Wouldn't you be greatful to get food from the only person you ever saw for many years?

Reminds me of the E. Smart case. She didn't try to escape and felt a bond with her kidnappers.

The poor kid has missed school, interaction with peers and family, and anything else you do in the prime years of your life.
