i use dish network its inexpensive and i get dvr for only 5 bucks a month! tivo is more expensive and has less recording time (I have 100 hours) i think in almost every place in the country cable is more expensive
depends on what kind of signal you have for satellite if you have a clear path storms will only put you out for a minute or two

Well, I am going to answer this one, cause I have had both. Cable is better for ease of operation, and they try to fill the channels. Satellite has tons of "pay per view" channels with a black screen or a preview of what is coming up...

My choice, cable by far...

I like cable better...it offers the same channels and features, but doesn't mess up when it rains. We had major problems with our satellite when it would rain or storm...kinda hard to watch for severe weather in your area when your satellite has gone out.

Cable is better if you want local programing but satellite is better if your interested in High Definition broadcasts.

satellite. although weather does affect it, the quality and the availability is much greater than cable.
