My mom is about to turn forty this year and she still tries to do everything herself. She feels like she always has to be doing something. Is there anything I can do to get her to try to relax? I have tried taking the work away from her by doing it myself, but she finds other things to do, like rearranging her room. Any suggestions?

A lot of them find that heart attacks caused by stress and exhaustion cure that tendency.

I think before she has a physical problem you need to encourage her to find a quiet pass-time that won't overwork her. Hobbies, social groups, and meeting with friends might be helpful. Helping her is great. Maybe for her birthday you can tell her you paid for her to go to a day spa to relax and while she is out of the house try to get most of the stuff done. If you have brothers and sisters you can split the cost and the cleanup effort.
