What are you worried for; you're going to get at least half of what he owns. Men are the ones who get screwed, not women...

You can mediate a divorce if you can agree with your ex but I don't think that would work very well. It is really sad because more money goes to the attornies which is money that should be going towards the children's wellbeing and care of the household. I spent $3500.00 on my divorce. I have no idea on how much my ex spent. When I decided to move, he decided to take me to court again for child custody. That cost another $3000.00. Both times he negotiated in the end so neither case went to trial. There would have been cheaper ways to go about doing it.

Yes you can get almost anything with no money down. You just have to ask. Rather pay for it all a once instead of having to write a check once a month for a couple of years. Sort of drags the divorce on and on and on.

If it is a simple divorce and no kids are involved (both parties walk away no asset split requirements, ameneble conditions) you can get a divorce kit on line, file all the necessary paperwork with the court in your community.. You can find inexpensive lawyers, likely cheaper then legal aid.

I f you have "low income" contact "legal aid" in your state, I went through Legal Action of Wisconsin based in Madison, my entire divorce cost $15.00...http://www.divorcesource.com/cgi-bin/search/catsearch.pl?cat=Legal_Aid
If you and your spouse have no property and neither one of you are contesting the divorce, you can go through "Womens Pro Se" and do it yourself, which cost approximately $200-$250... http://www.infoline.org/InformationLibrary/docs/Pro%20Se%20Divorce%20lb.asp
If neither of these pertain or appeal to you, consult an attorney, many will have your spouse pay for your attorney, depending on your financial status.

sure you can, there are forms that you can get and the two of you can work it out on your own, or you can share an attorney. Personally, I'd go for the forms.

Doubtful. You may want to research some lawyers just in case.
