Yes, I'm quite worried about my mum at the moment. She now has about 10 tattoos and she is planning on having more. I'm afraid she is addicted. I think it gives her a buzz, when she gets a new tattoo, but then after a while, the high goes away and she is ready for another one. I don't know where it will end. I'm worried she might regret it one day. She has also started having a few piercings, so I'm worried that might escalate too. HTH.

I had my first tattoo done in Malta for my 40th birthday. Within 6 weeks, I had 4 more by the same artist, and I love them. If I want anymore, I've said I'll have to go back to Malta to keep up the consistancy. I guess I'll be waiting a while then, won't I???? LOL

Yes! The minute I got my first one I wanted another. I had 3 in two years. Big shame the first two were completely rubbish though!!! Third time lucky, thankfully. But the good one really shows up the other two.
"you wait 'till you're 40, then you'll regret it" my Mum said. I have to tell her now that she was right! (well, about the first two) She's very good, she doesn't rub it in.
I don't for a minute regret the good one though, even though it's more than 20 years old and pretty faded . . . .

When i had my first tattoo done, i couldnt wait to get back in the studio to have more done. My tattooist said this was called 'needle itch'. It does die down after a while... although when i next had a tattoo, i again got this 'needle itch', and again after my third. Its been a few years since i last had one, but i really do want another

Personally, no!
I have one, and I love it.
But I don't think it's addictive. All I have to do it picture what they'll look like in 30 years, and then it reminds me why I only have one!

Can't say just yet. I have an appointment for my first one in September (and I'm 48, lol). Been thinking about one for a number of years but never got round to it until now.

Following the herd or their own desire?
If they are so necessary why do celebs hide them, or worse, try to get rid of them.
Tattoo's demonstrate a weakness to me.
A bit like people keeping dangerous dogs.
To answer your question I expect they don't provide the person with what he or she wants so they make themselves even more horrible.
Cetainly you can admire the work done, but not on the body.

Not addictive, but impulsive and a mistake. What looks good at twenty looks like an green blob at sixty. Age and liver spots are better looking that an old faded tattoo. People will be much better off if they save and invest the money they would have spent on tattoos.

Its called ink addiction, I'm 50 years old and had my first tattoo at 17, i now have full sleeves and body, always make sure you have them done in a real tattoo studio, the full cost of mine up to Feb 06 is £7,000. and now I've run out of skin space. P.S. as barbed wire is popular at the moment i had a barbed wire necklace in Feb 06.
