Hi, Found out I am 4 weeks pregnant recently and feeling sick all day, really bad hot flushes and real moody. My breasts don't hurt yet reading around people say they should. Just worried as this baby has been 18 months in the making! Thanks - any advice would be good :)

Congrats! First, worrying is natural, although not the best thing for you or the baby. Symptoms differ from person to person. In the first 3 months, your body is adapting to something that, although normal for women, is not a normal situation for you. There's no way you can measure yourself against anyone else, we are - after all - all different and will react differently. Honestly, if you are really worried, contact your GP tomorrow, but as I felt very differently with all my pregnancies, I wouldn't be too worried. Believe me, when your breasts do start hurting (and they will in due course), then you'll wish they didn't!!! Please don't listen to anyone else's stories about how it was for them. This is about you and how you feel. Your GP and/or midwife will tell you that if you have any concerns then contact them - that's what they are there for. What may seem silly to others won't seem it to them - they are there to reassure you and make your pregnancy as good for you as they can as much as anything else. Also, you could go online to nhs.co.uk and ask them directly if you can't wait until your GP's surgery opens. Hope this helps.

Feeling sick is perfectly normal but hopefully it will lessen up or even go away once you get into the second trimester. Being moody is normal during pregnancy and even though I didn't find out I was pregnant until the last couple weeks of my first trimester, looking back, up until that point I was one CRANKY and I'm afraid to ask what my friends and family thought about me during that point in time. As for the sore breasts, every woman and every pregnancy is different you may or may not experience the symptoms you read and hear about. I'm 20 weeks now and my breast didn't get sore at all until the last couple weeks.

Just keep in mind what I said earlier, every woman and every pregnancy is different. Try not to worry if you don't experience all pregnancy symptoms becuase you might not and it doesn't mean there is some thing wrong. But if you are worried about something, talking to your Dr. can reasure you that everything is still ok.

Congratulations! Hope everything goes well, sounds like they are so far.

Everyone gets different symptoms in different combinations. I had the all day nausea (never threw up thank God, as I'm scared of it!), sore boobs (they didn't hurt that much straight away, it took a couple of weeks for them to get really sore) and tiredness and peeing more than usual. I didn't have hot flushes, "metal" taste in the mouth or anything else.

Nausea is supposed to be a good sign in early pregnancy as it shows that your HcG hormone is at a good level to sustain the pregnancy. Remember that if it gets really bad or you start being sick a lot you should see your doctor. Dehydration and severe sickness need to be treated, and there are safe anti-emetics for pregnancy but they need to be prescribed by a doctor.

Very early to be telling people. Not supposed to until the 3rd trimester. (I've never met anyone that has lasted that long!!)

Calm down!! It all sounds normal, try to forget that you are pregnant now for a few months. Avoid lavender and other aromatherapy stuff, hot baths, cats, un-pasteurised food, nuts, runny eggs, shell fish, sword fish, alcohol and smoking. Other than that forget about it!!

Ginger is very good for morning sickness. But most importantly is eating, if you feel sick you generally need to eat. Don't be put off of eating due to the sicky feeling, you'll just make it worse. try keeping some water biscuits or crackers or something by your bed. Perhaps you may want to start drinking a pint of full fat milk everyday, and get plenty of omega 3.

Don't forget your pelvic floor exercises either! You'll miss them if they go!

Good luck and relax!

Everybody's a little different. I didn't have morning sickness with my son but my breasts were tender. I was also expecting to have a lot of back pain, but I didn't have that until later in the pregnancy so don't worry--just stay healthy and I'm sure everything will be great! Good luck and congrats!!

We're in the same boat! Congrats! I too am four weeks :) For me- I am tired and achy. My breasts do hurt - be thankful it hasn't kicked in yet. I am also emtiona (crying...good grief)l and get that "i'm gonna be sick" feeling but haven't actually thrown up at all yet - which I am greatful for. Things that I have found the help: walking, peppermint sticks (like a candy cane) helps my sick feeling, hot showers help with the achy feeling and sleep. Good luck, take care of yourself, and enjoy each little moment!

Not every pregnant woman gets all the symptoms. My breasts didn't hurt until after my baby was born and were full of milk. Don't worry about symptoms that you aren't getting. There's no law saying you have to experience everything other pregnant women have experienced.

First off ...CONGRATS!!! Just relax and enjoy it...the morning sickness I WISH I could tell you that it will ALL go away...but when I was pregnant with all 3 of my sons...I had morning sickness the ENTIRE 8.5 months..* each was born at least 2 weeks early! But with my oldest (and ONLY daughter...) my EX husband had the morning sickness the week BEFORE we found out I was pregnant! So in conclusion..we found that only men can make me THIS sick..LOL
They make a lollipop for morning sickness...they work..especially the ginger one..or drink ginger tea...

Congratulations. Listen - you are pregnant and have been trying for 18 months. So please just relax, listen to what your ante natal/doctor has to say, and enjoy being pregnant no matter what you have to put up with. It's worth everything in the end when you hold your baby in your arms. Just enjoy every part of your pregnancy. It will all be over this time next year.
