I live in Delray beach.... rest assured, it is on its way. But by the time it will hit you, it will probably be a weak tropical storm.
Regardless, go to http://www.weather.com for all the hourly updates. Pay close attention to the 5pm and the 11pm updates as they are the ones that change.
Also, make sure you go to home depot and/or publix and get lots of D batteries & water.
Good luck... i'm sure it will be interesting!

I am from Katrina country...DO NOT WAIT for a Category 4!!! Not even a Category 1 if the authorities tell you to leave. Listen to them and take care of your children. Even a Category 1 can do so much damage..I know because I lost my home to a small hurricane named Elena back in the 80s.

Stay tuned in...but I don't think you have much to worry yet about yet with Ernesto. They will tell you in enough time to get out. This Governor is very careful and well organized.
We live close to the Ga/Fl line in North east Fl.We have a farm near Hilliard. If we get strong winds we have to move a lot of animals to a safer place on the farm, but I don't think this storm will be anything but a lot of rain....

this storm will fizzle out... but don't take my word for it.
Although I have lived in Florida for ten years and am almost always right when it comes to hurricane predictions. good luck
I was wiped out by Wilma and washed away by Georges and it is always a bit of an adventure.
So enjoy the candle light dinners and all of the stuff that goes with a big storm. If it happens which I don't think it will...

Ask yourself some questions...
Do you live right on the coast or in a flood-prone area? Are you prepared to live awhile without electricity? Do you have enough food & batteries to get you by?
My recommendation is to go visit some friends or relatives away from the coast.
Pay attention to http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ or watch CNN or your local news outlets or listen to a local radio station. Evacuate if your local officials tell you to...and if they are telling you to evacuate it's for a very good reason!

Linda, Hi from Minnesota, watching carefully as we have family in Miami. Best advise would be to leave when they tell you to leave. If you are on a barrier island,it's probably best to go inland before the storm hits.

they will tell you when to get out.... or leave...... but if you on the coast i would leave at a 3 or 4 catagory.. only b/c your on the beach... i lived in st. cloud it is only like 30 min. away and i wouldent leave only if it was like a 4 or a lil bit stronger. only b/c im more inland..... then melbourne.... i say " just ride it out" LOL have fun!
