I would think that a person who accepted responsibility for killing people both directly and indirectly, would have accepted the punishment and not tried to get out of the death penalty.

yes he got what the state demands for his crimes.
the fact that he reformend has no bearing on his sentence and its easy to be good when you are facing a death penalty,
he should have thought about being nice before his crimes and he would still be here today.
having said all that i have read the book and he states quite clearly that he was set up and framed by the police in his location, having dealt with the police here in glasgow i can relate to that possibility(cops do lie)i suppose in the end its all about what version you believe, one thing i am certain about is this,,if tookie was innocent and he went to the death chamber an innocent man, the cops that put him there have still to meet their maker and this is when the ultimate punsihment will be dealt out..
thanks for the thoughts.
ps he did a lot of good before his death and its never to late to repent..

The so-called changes in his life occurred on death row. He was sent to death row for murdering at least 4 individuals. The authorities also know he was a leader in his gang and probably ordered or participated in many more. He got what he had coming. Live by the sword die by the sword. May he rot in he** like he deserves.

He was the co-founder of the Crips which is now one of the biggest gangs in the country. He was sent to death row for crimes he committed in the 80's, in which he cold bloodedly murdered people. It would make our justice system irrelevant if we were to have not upheld the punishment handed down by a jury of his peers. Repentance does not a valid appeal make.

He never admitted killing the person. So he never apologize. People make changes in their life all the time but don't get forgiven of past crimes or punishments.
If someone get the death penalty then they should die. If he would have got life than that would have been OK with me too.

I think anyone should pay the consequences for their deeds. The deeds he was sentenced for are just the ones they could convict him for; God only knows what else he did in his life. Just because he had a sudden revelation while incarcerated doesn't mean that he gets another chance. He was a cold-blooded murderer among other things and had to be treated like an animal to make him into a productive human being? YES..he got his justice. And to his victims, they got theirs. Amen.

Wonderful question here! I feel for him and his death and I do feel he truly was a changed man, really I do. But at the same time he did do horrible crimes and he had to pay his dues to society. I am thankful that he died a christian and I know he is in heaven and forgiven for all his sins.

Yes, penalty fitted the crime. Someone is not walking this earth because of him.

I would like to think the changes he made were not to avoid his sentence but to leave behind a message and a better world.
If I shoot your dog and burn your house and then tell you I'm truly sorry and bake you a cake would that be good enough for you?
