I'm sure quite a few. I'm a veteran and the volunteer military today is made up of over 75% of Republicans, so I'm feel we pretty much put our money with our mouth is.

Did we hurt your feelings by questioning your opinions and experiences. Sorry thought this was America and freedom of speech and thought had not been taken away yet. Seems to me that the other side of the aisle lacks in military experience. Colin Powell had a bit of experience before he moved on. You probably do not count him cause he is no longer there. What did you do while 'in' protecting us. Cause I was out there and most of us agreed with Bush's side of the aisle. They always state all these deferments that the repubs got but when compare to the democrats they were pikers. (weapons of war.) they also always quote how few of the children are serving but when looks at the percentages and compares it to the population fairly and without an agenda no group in congress shines. Why be fair the politicians do not. Then we will hear about Halibuton and KBR but the Heinz company owned by Mrs kerry jumped right in to the bidding. No they did not but lets not look at the real world and what group has the most soft money and take it with both hands. La washington politians feel that they are above the law.

I really do not see the necessity for this name-calling childishness. Just because they were either not in the military or see combat does not make them 'chickenhawks'. It is this type of politics of personal destruction, especially as practiced by the anti-Bushies, that has led to the political divisiveness in this country.
And it is not only cheap and childish, it is also intellectually dishonest. Especially since from January 1993 to January 2001, we didn't hear anything about 'chickenhawk' or 'draft dodger' from you people. One might label that a double-standard, or hypocrisy...
The dishonest aspect is that this type of idiotic label presupposes (quiet erroneously) that only people who served in the military have any 'authority' to go to war, or some such nonsense. This is blatantly a load of crap. Just because someone served or didn't, has no bearing upon their decisionmaking as a statesman or leader.
To claim otherwise is to claim something false.

I don't think so. Cheney got 5 student deferrments, I don't think Wolfowitz or Rumsfeld or Norquist or Rove ever served, either. The biggest anti-war guy I know is an old guy, a World War Two vet, who got shot and almost killed in WW2--the voice of experience...as opposed to the voice of INexperience now in charge of the country's fate.
