Stupid me turned my head for a second and when I turned back I was right at the median and CURB!!! I scraped the curb once with my radiator fairing and thought for sure I was going to dump it. My instincts took over and I hit the next curb and then rode out of it......Talk about freaking out! Well, needless to say, my paint and some chrome is scraped off on the bottom but it could have been a lot worse. I am still bummed out though. This is a very expensive paint job and a brand new V-Rod. Anyone else do this same thing or something similar? Defensive driving is what saved my *** !

Ah don't worry about it. Bikes look a little better with a few battle scars.

Make up a better story for it, though.

Like, "Someone was chasing me and shooting at me, but I managed to lose them after plowing through some garbage cans and a curb down a back alley!!"

Next time - dont take your eyes off the road.....

Once, while riding with a buddy, we passed these two hot chicks walking down the street. He turned his head to check them out, while I continued on watching where I was going. I honked, hoping he would turn back around and pay attention to the car that came to a stop in front of him, but instead he looked at me! Thats when he hit the rear end and flew over the car, landing on the hood. Wasnt hurt at all - was only going around 25mph....but talk about scary!

Pays to pay attention to the road....

Also, broke my collar bone hitting a curb at 30mph while racing pocketbikes. Curbs suck!

I have dumped my bike! especially when I was a new rider, and rode a very cold blooded bike on cold mornings. My engine would always die in the middle of turn, and since I was already leaning over...yeah, have you ever noticed how much it hurts your ego more than it hurts your bike?

About the scrapes on your new bike:

- The good news is that now you don't have to be so worried about scratching it that you don't let yourself really ride.

- The bad news is (especially on those pipes) you're going to have to worry about rust if you don't do something to seal those scrapes. If you can't afford full repairs, you should talk to your local mechanic about what you can do to avoid rust.

best wishes.

I bet you shook for an hour. A car pulled out in front of me once, heading right at me, and I had to lay it down cuz I didn't know where he was going. I shook for a couple hours - just because of what COULD have happened. Thankfully you're ok - you can always fix the bike!

Surely if you were riding defensively you wouldn't have hit the curb in the first place!

I was hit by a car a month ago, and broke my leg in two places. Be thankful you only got a few scratches on your bike, and keep it between the lines.
