My 144 volt battery module is barely charging...is this due to a faulty IMA (integ. motor assist) or bad conventional 12 Volt battery?

Try asking on a Honda Insight group, rather than asking random people on Yahoo!Answers:

Remember that you have an 8 year/80,000 mile warranty on the hybrid battery! (I don't think that any of the Insights have been qualified for the AT-PZEV CA-emission standard that extends the warranty on the battery out to 10 years/150,000 miles.)

The 12v accessory battery replacement interval would depend on how it was treated, like on any car. Leave the headlights on overnight or the car undriven for a long time, for examples, and the 12v can become severely depleated (needing a jumpstart), and may never hold a charge for a period of days unused again...
