For me, it started out pure fun. But, I believe something more important is occurring here. It's something about getting to communicate with so many different kinds of people, and, something about a sense that this early Yahoo Answers thing is possibly an "historic" step in educational methodology.

I really just found this place the other day.. i got curious and started reading, I was shocked ( 15 year old girls that want advice about sex )at some of the questions and had to laugh at the stupidity of others. ( getting pregnant while sitting on a public toilet seat) PLEASE!!!! I agree about the home and maintaince part. You might actually learn something there. But I highly doubt some of these people are asking because they need an answer. They want confirmation that it is ok for them to behave in that matter and that is something that I will not give.. Some of these people that post on here might actually need help. But for some of the questions that are asked . UH LOL

I've learned some things, but mostly because anything being said is included in such a party line diatribe that I chose to research what was said to remove the political editorial from the truth.

I've also learned just how crazy some of the participants on both sides of the "aisle" can be between their strict adherance to political dogma and the frequent lies and repeating of propaganda concealed as truth.

But mostly its for fun! It beats the heck out of work!

It's all just for fun. We're not going to convince each other of anything, we're not going to win anyone over to "our" side. The very few questions that are presented that actually do seek to expand on knowledge are glossed over because they don't contain the words "Democrat", "Republican", "Liberal", or "Neo-con".

So, have fun with it. I like to read these questions and answers and imagine the expressions of anger, horror, and rage on some peoples faces. That sounds morbid, but I think some people take themselves wayyyyyy too serious. Besides, most of the questions are asked by John Skerry, Dr. Feelgood, Dubya, Kookoo Bananas, playtoofast, and a few others on both sides. They're all the same people anyway who like to play both sides against themselves. Hell, I think there's probably one or two people on here that post "I hate Liberals" AND "I hate Neo-cons" questions and answers to their OWN questions just because they think it's fun.

So as a place for discussion and learning, it's sorely lacking. As a place for fun...it's a blast.

Some of my questions have been answered with serious answers and some haven't. I have actually taken the time to research a question so that I could give a thorough and informative answer to some really tough questions about subjects I was unfamiliar with. So, I would have to say that Yes I have definitely learned some things on Yahoo! Answers.

I've learned that the "myth" of most Americans being dumb is actually true. Scary. Most people ask and answer questions based on no facts at all and do not even bother to research to find out the truth.

I'm starting to see Yahoo Answers as a dynamic, high-tech, unscientific poll. You can encounter some practical knowledge as others have mentioned, but on the complicated issues (especially political & social issues) there's still too much "faith" in answers and not enough reason.

I've learned that too many Americans lack basic common sense and any kind of intelligence past listening to what others spoon-feed them...intelligence is a minority, and im only 20.
