For - it allows the actors to leave the right amount of space for a laugh without looking awkward, so you don't miss dialogue as you laugh on your settee! Also it can make you enjoy the programme more as it kind of gets and keeps you in the laughter mood.

Against - it can make you miss dialogue if the track is too loud.
It can also be incredibly irritating unless it is an actual live audience reacting with laughter - nothing more annoying than canned laughter at something that just isn't funny.

In conclusion, I prefer without!

I personally do not like laugh tracks on T.V. shows. I would prefer laughing out loud all on my own, not because I subconsciously think it may be funny.

Plus, there are always going to be times where the producers use the laugh track in a spot where I would not have laughed at all. Then I find myself questioning why they thought that area deserved a laugh and I am then no longer enjoying the show.

You know, we're all creatures of habit. Plus, in some way or another, we're all conformists.
Subconciously, we laugh when people laugh. We smile when we see others smile. We yawn when others yawn. It's all hidden deep in your brain to follow others.
Therefore, TV shows make laughtracks for you to know when there's something funny. Hopefully, you'll laugh at that funny moment. Then, hopefully, you'll enjoy that show. Which of course, hopefully, you'll return and watch that show again. It's all marketing ploys.

No, it's just conditioning that people think it is necessary.

The Simpsons would suck with a laugh track.

I like Corner Gas, and it doesn't have a laugh track.

Comedy movies have no laugh tracks.

No, if it is live action. I like my cartoons with a laugh track though. Fred Flintstone's lines seem funnier with the canned stuff.

No. It's really psychological. If you hear laughter, you're more likely to laugh

not really, if you get used to it you can block it out. But in the beginning it's really annoying.
