Why does a slim waist make a woman more attractive?

What benefit does it serve in survival or child-rearing?

there actually have been studies on this. There is a waist to hip ratio (I think it's 0.7) that's been deemed, on average, the most attractive to men, and as previously posted, would indicate sexual maturity.

Also- slim waists are a sign of youth and health- which is also a sign of fertility.

The things that most (normal) men are attracted to do actually stem from finding a woman who is the best reproductive candidate. It's deep within our pyche's.

But don't feel left out. The things that women find attractive about men are also those things that make them the best fathers and reproductive genes.

from what ive read its not just a slim waist, its about hip ratio. there have been studies in attractiveness that have shown this fact. women who have slim waist but equally slim hips and butts are not as attractive. its on the curves. The "slim waist" shows health and healthy women are more likely to have a successful pregnancy, and bear children that are healthy. Women with the "right" hip to waist ratio are also more likely to have a a wide enough pelvis for the baby to pass through.

another study shows that men who are hungry like plump women and those who are well fed like skinny ones.
It has to do with evolution. If there is scarcity of food, plump women are better suited to survive

well actually if you think of it like this... if a woman is too thin she will not have her period, so she would not be fertile in a sense. so really it isnt that healthy to be super skinny.
most men find women with a bit of meat on them more attractive.
