I have steel gutters on my house and was wondering if anyone had detailed instructions on how to replace them yourself.

Home Depot has all the materials and information you need. I would suggest vinyl gutters. The only tools you need are a ladder, screw gun measuring tape and a hand saw. Each section of gutter is 10' long. Place supports about 3.3' apart or the gutter will sag over time. Get someone to help you get all the bits and pieces you will need, there will be many. Place downspouts every 40' at the maximum. You don't have to worry about sloping gutters, if set level water will run off just fine.

Remove all existing gutters.

Repair and repaint all facsia boards.

Decide where your Downspouts will be. This will also determine where your high points are.

Run a chalk line from your high point along each run to the low point, trying to drop at least 2 inches per 10 feet of run. This will be the line you try to keep the top of your gutter on.

I would use gutter screws if you are not experienced insalling gutters, because nailing gutter spikes while standing on a ladder can be hard.

Attach the down spouts to the house securely, and make sure your runouts are 10 feet away from the house.

Make sure all your joints are screwed and sealed.

its not an easy task if you dont have the right tools, first go around the house and unscrew all the gutters, check for rot along the roofline while doing this, replace any sections that are rotted.. Next measure for length accounting for the angled cuts or downspouts at the seam using snips or a sawzall(reciprocating saw) and a metal blade cut the desired length, using a chalk line plot a line alon the rofline to keep it level. Now with a second person go and screw the gutters in and caulk the seams and down spouts reinstall downspouts and viola. It is a long prcess to do it right if you dont posess the skills or experience in working with your hands i dont reccomend it for a first project.

very simple task, firstly geta good ladder(hire or buy)remove all old guttering, this is normally quite simple because the screw nails holding them in place will almost certainly be very weak due to corrosion, decide on your replacement gutters(pvc is best and lightest)screw in the support brackets and the pvc guttering clips into the brackets easily, the joining sections also clip in easily, the down pipe sections have a clip on each side and again is very easy to snap into place, if you tell your supplier how long your gutters are in total, and how many down pipes you have ,he will give you all the right materials..

good luck and be carefull with that ladder
