Hundred of books!
Thousands of books!
Millions and billions and trillions of books!

More, more.....I'm STILL not satisfied.....

Sorry about that. I get a little carried away.

My name is Samira, and I'm addicted to reading......

Give me lots of magazines, newspapers, and journals at the library. Computers are nice, with fast Internet access. Definitely
good light for reading, and nice chairs and tables for convenient use....but give me plenty of print material, and I'll make do with the floor just fine if I have to, thank you very much.

I can live without the modern popular movies, DVDs, and music, but I'm a snob! (If you want them that badly, buy them yourself.) *Guess* if a public library has a mandate that allows them to purchase mass market fiction fiction to meet local demand, movies are OK.....
....but really would rather have limited public funding spent on those cool National Geographic documentaries and stuff from the History Channel.

I wish I had one in my neighborhood, and if I did have one,
I´d want it to have as many books as possible. all neatly categorized.....I´d also want the library to
have a collection container where anyone can freely drop in books, either for giving away to the library or lending to the library.....it would also be nice to have a reading teacher for small kids......they can schedule an hour a week and mothers could take the kids and this reading teacher could read to them, and they can formulate questions.......oh the list goes on and on about how many good things can come out of a library!!!!

Well organized books, easy to access, arranged by Dewey Decimal System (preferably on computer), audio visual materials, helpful and friendly librarians, subdued lighting in some areas, bright lighting in areas for study and reading. Copy machines, fax machines, personal computers, Internet, microfiche for older newspapers, or having them on a disk. Movies, DVD's, CD's for checkout, story time for children, book sales throughout the year. Taking orders for new books, having book holds and transfer of titles between libraries (interlibrary loans), large print format for low vision readers, books on audiotape for others. Having a secure and respected place in the community and being a leader in the fight against illiteracy.

DVDs, CDs, free access to the Internet, Internet programs/services for free that I'd have to pay to access at home (such as online audio books and ancestry.com), art prints to check out, community information, great programs showing old movies, a meeting place for clubs and organizations, classes on things like quilt making, photography, wild flowers, etc etc etc. Story time programs for children and book clubs for adults, special collections in art, car repair, local history; easy access to government information such as IRS tax forms.

There's a lot more to libraries than books and quiet! I'd hope my local public library has all of the above.... and acutally it does!

All the "things" they provide. Books, magazines, newspapers, computers, research, air conditioning, bathroom, etc. Especially, the "books" - without them there wouldn't be a "public library", now, would there?

A quiet place, with nice friendly helping workers, easy to locate sections, computer access, a fun environment for kids, and a place full of love for knowledge.
