When the couple decides to get divorced, there is an interim period until the divorce can be finalized and things like splitting of assets and debts and custody are determined. In this interim period, a separation agreement can lock down the assets so one person doesn't go and buy a bunch of stuff or blow the family money so the other person can't have any. It can define a visitation schedule for the children, living arrangements, a possible allowance for the person that left the household, etc.

well if you are going to take the trouble of filing legal separation papers you might as well just save your money and not do it and just get seperated or file divorce papers.

Cuz then is everything is legal and everyone is bound to it when divorce happens but its very expensive and overpriced. My husband copied mine so he could save money but hes still on HER mtge and she doesnt care. What a mess. She has been refusing to sell that house for ten years. She sounds selfish.

Courthouse website you can download all paperwork needed. It's for before you file for divorce. So you have financial obligations in that period if he runs up CC's while you are seperated you are not responsible
