English/American speaking will be the minority and become extinct. Our first Lady is of the Spanish desend...Have you been to Texas where the Bush's grew up? A Lot of those Spanish speaking folk there as well. I am with you on this one tho. You are in our country...speak the language or find another country that will cater to you! If you go to Mexico, will they cater to the English? Hell no...they will put you in jail first ...

Even though the majority of the US speaks English, the US has not officially made English the language of the country. I think we really should do that, otherwise, this "learn English or get out" attitude doesn't really make sense.

Perhaps it is becuase a large amount of his constituency are Spanish-speakers. Perhaps he wants to communicate with other human beings. It is also possible that he wants to buck the trend of isolationism by cultural tunnel vision that is often perpetuated by uneducated Americans.

I think if we looked at our language (English) we would notice that we are speaking the language of another country. What's up with that. We need to change that to Americanese, or Americish...or something that shows our cultural superiority! Then give the Brit's 30 days to change all reference to the language they speak to Americish or they will face UN sanctions! We will not rule out military action!

Probably because 80% of Miami-Dade County speaks Spanish. He is talking simply about safey precautions and emergency plans, even the people who only speak Spanish should know what do to in an emergency, it will make everything else run smoother. Not crazy about our Governor, and don't agree with him usually, but if this will make things easier in Florida if we have an emergency situtation, let him speak to them in Spanish.

The U.S. does not recognize an "official language". This was done by design by our founding fathers to promote immigration and diversity.

Don't believe me ... look it up. Know the REAL laws and customs of our nation and become a good American.

English is not the official language of the US. You'd better learn it because we'll all be speaking it soon.

Isn't it a fact that in not many years from now Spanish will be spoken by more people in the US than English will be? They giving you a taste of things to come. Better get used to it :-)
