Uh, what? During dreaming, our spirit (whatever you mean by that) does not leave our body. The exact mechanisms and reasons are still a bit of a mystery, but it's probably just our brain storing through the clutter that formed during the busy daytime, and trying to make sense of it :)

A materialist would say that there is no spirit or that it does not leave the body. I wonder why none of them have ever designed an experiment to measure and see if anything leaves and comes back after dreaming. It would be interesting, especially if anything was found. How can we be sure, until we do it?

I personally don't believe that anything leaves or returns to our bodies while dreaming, but I am disturbed by the dogmatic manner in which the other answerers insist that it is impossible; apparently without having tested their hypothesis.

i really like that idea im not sure i believe it but i sure think its intresting! Some dreams are so real and realistic..
the fact that we remember the dreams we have closest to waking COULD mean that when we are half in our body and half in spirit land so to speak we are more likely to remember tha experience bcz we are half concious at that time, ie spirit returnig to body!
I have know someone who had dreams of things that would happen in the future ie premonitions... !!
I guess in our materialistic-reductionist view we MAY be overlooking the fact that dreams are of themselves a mystical/spiritual experience and something extraordinary...
and should not be dismissed just bcz we all have them or with theories such as its just the brain organising itself...
like i said im not sure i believe this about dreams but it does certainly add to our lives and makes for a naturally "trippy" experience whether it be due to our brain (material-reductionist view) or something more.Personally speaking most of my dreams represent either my biggest fears or things that would make me the happiest!!

when you dream your subconscious mind tells something.events of the past or events of future.if you concentrate of the dream while you are awoke ,you will get some indication.even your surrounding may speak of the events of the past or futuresometimes your spirit seems to travel long and suddenly when you wake up you will feel tired and seem to have travelled far.no science is capable of explaining this. Can you see air? No " . similarly is dreaming and our spirit.

There is no spirit. Dreams are what you consciously experience as your brain cleans up 'messy' information (similar to a computer defragmenting its hard drive) and puts things you recently learned into permanent memory. Due to the sensory deprivation of sleep, your mind is more receptive to small, false sensory inputs, which is one of the reasons you don't dream while you're awake.

Dreams are just the animated re-presentation of the things that u go across during ur life or for that matter... during the day.
Talking about thespirit, its just a kindda mythological belief, which has no connestion with the dreams.....

first of all, how do you know we have a spirit?

and how would you know if you got out of the body?(you´ll only know for sure if you do it conscioussly, but i still haven´t found any evidence indicating that that´s possible)
