In power packs, NaBH4 is mixed with H2O to produce hydrogen.
What is the equation and what is the name of the residue (I am no chemist!), something like NaBO + H6?

NaBH4 + 2 H2O -> NaBO2 (sodium metaborate) + 4 H2
is one possibility.

ok you have BH4-+H2O ----> BH3 (really B2H6) + NaOH + H2 gas

as for the products they're called sodium hydroxide and boron trihydrogen.

NaBH4 is a hydride donor. as in it give off H- which is VERY reactive. so the hydrogen given off catches on fire...
