Depend on what you need the phone for, what features do you want - talking, messaging, listening to music, and taking pictures?

If you want a phone for communicating with people, a basic functional phone is your best choice. And reliability and reception is the first thing you need to consider. Try Motorola V220 for Cingular, it's free and you can even get cash back after rebates.

If you want a new phone that packed with latest style and features. You are looking for a fashion phone. These phones are hot and usually pricey when they first come out. Consider LG Chocolate for Verizon. Motorola razr used to fall into this category, but the price has come down, and they are free with a new contract. http://www.bestincellphones.com/free-cell-phones-offers.asp

If you are running a business or multitasking is your way of life. You need a business phone that can handle part of your work routines and make you more productive. Consider Treo from PalmOne, or Blackberry from RIM.

go to the website and look at the different options. Be careful what service you get because in my area there are 2 choices but one has horrible service for the local area. Ask around to what provider people around you use. Here Verizon is the way to go, u also talk unlimited to all others who have verizon. lots of other good deals.

As for the phone, pick your provider first then look at there website for the different models, there are SO many to choose from. stay away from those damn razors, they are uncomfortable, hard to press the buttons, break easily, and the camera absolutely sucks. I have an LG 8400 cam phone and love it. Motorola is supposedly the best phone brand so maybe check those out too. Phones are pretty fun to shop for.

BTW, I'd stay away from the "free phones" some companies give you for signing a contract. They are always the cheapest model and you will regret it. And buying a new phone after you have already signed a contract can get very very expensive. Make sure you buy the right phone at the same time you start your contract.

At first decide your budget . Then about the functions you need your phone to have .Nokia phones are stylish but a bit costly .You will be able to get a phone with the same functions and less style than Nokia at a comparably low price from SONYERICSON .SAMUNG ,L.G ,MOTOROLA etc appears to be cheaper .Once you buy a set be careful in choosing the service provider as many functions like GPRS ,MMS etc depends on the service provider .OF-COURSE never forget about the range.

well, first decide on how much u are willing to pay for the phone, that way u will know how much u have to save. then decide what you want from ur phone, for example, a good camera, good amount of memory, etc. then choose a phone that fits into the bracket u have created. good luck!

Choose a cellphone that fits your lifestyle. For example if you're a student, you might want a cellphone that has a music player, notes and calendar.

If you're a businessman or working, you might want a cellphone with office application or the pda style.
