I am sure if you have recently read my questions, you know my husband and I are trying to conceive. Every month I get my hopes up and then they get crushed to the ground. Heres my question...I got off my period a little over a week ago and my husband and I are were intimate... Like seven days after we had sex, I went to the bathroom after sex and there was light bleeding. It was only there that one time. I am not due for another period till September 14th-15th. So I guess my question is, What would cause me to bleed??? We weren't rough....

Thanks ;)

I don't know what causes this but, it happens to me sometimes too. When I was pregnant I asked my ob/gyn about it because it scared me and she said not to worry about it it was normal. I'm not positive because it's been two years but, I'm pretty sure it has something to do with your uterus getting "knocked around". Don't worry it's OK and good luck having a baby!!! I hope you're pregnant already. I had alot of spotting in my first trimester. This could be a good sign!!

HOPE THIS HELPS!!!

How can I tell the difference between an early period and implantation bleeding?

A

I would suspect implantation bleeding if it occurs a bit earlier than expected, if it were scanty, spotty, pinkish and not red and heavy like a period, and does not follow the normal pattern of a period (light to heavy to light).

The BBT should remain elevated and not decline to preovulatory levels.

There is often the feeling that it is a period with light cramps and bloating, but the bleeding is shorter, lighter and just not normal.

If a woman is usually regular, and now all of a sudden develops this type of early spotting, and of course is "at risk" for a pregnancy, I would strongly suspect conception.

Sometimes we women can have unexplained spotting from time to time. I had the same prob before, my OBGYN aid it was just an increased amount of secretions becasue we didn't use condoms and I was used to the lubrication of the condoms. May I suggest you should try using a lubricating gel. KY warming gel is awesome for that. If you still have problems, give your GYN a call and see them, but relax and enjoy the act of creating your child. If you freak out about every little thing, your body's stress level will sky rocket and you won't help in the conception of your child. It's not your time it's God's time. When he thinks you are ready, you will get pregnant.

Implantation Bleeding during pregnancy
Implantation bleeding can happen at the time the fertilized egg implants in the uterus, on average between 6 to 12 days past ovulation. It is is vaginal discharge which usually contains a small amount of pinkish or brownish blood. Only about 1 in 3 pregnant women experience implantation bleeding.

Approximately one third of all pregnant women report bleeding that is associated with implantation. The presence of implantation bleeding does not increase the overall risk of miscarriage, however. Most pregnancies will continue until term without further bleeding.

Report any abnormal vaginal bleeding during pregnancy to your doctor. Be prepared to give information about the amount of blood lost and a description of how you are feeling overall.

The cells that eventually form the placenta are called trophoblasts. Specialized trophoblasts, the syncitiotroblast, are responsible for developing an interface with the maternal circulatory system to provide nutrients and allow gas (oxygen and carbon dioxide) exchange to occur.

Sometimes, while this interface is developed, some of the maternal blood is lost. This implantation bleeding is typically short in duration and quite light. Implantation bleeding is one of the early signs of pregnancy.

Some dos and don’ts for getting pregnant
*

Do limit movement after intercourse. Standing up after intercourse can cause the semen to leak out. Try to wait twenty minutes after sex before getting up and moving around.
*

Do try to keep the sperm inside your vagina longer. You can hold the labia together to try to keep the sperm inside of you. You can also try putting a pillow under your pelvis to help tilt your body so the sperm can travel upwards easier.
*

Do try to make sex enjoyable. Sometimes when a couple is trying to conceive it will affect the quality of their sex life. More enjoyable sex means higher sperm count and better “swimmers”.
*

Do limit intercourse and male masturbation prior to the days you are trying to conceive. It will help to increase the man’s sperm count and improve your chances of getting pregnant.
*

Do take prenatal vitamins if you are trying to conceive. Folic acid and other vitamins are very important during the first trimester of pregnancy.
*

Don’t drink alcohol or use drugs at the time of conception. This applies to both the male and female. There is strong evidence that alcohol can effect your chances of getting pregnant.
*

Don’t douche after having intercourse. It can wash out the sperm that has just entered your body.
*

Don’t have oral sex prior to intercourse. There is some evidence that the bacteria in the mouth can cause damage to male sperm.
*

Don’t have anal sex prior to intercourse. Bacteria in the anas can be carried into the vagina from the man’s penis. If you do have anal sex before intercourse, make sure your partner washes his penis first

By the way good luck and hope to hear that you are pregnant soon!

It could have been implantation bleeding. Just because most women ovulate 2 weeks after their period does not mean every woman does. Don't get your hopes up though, it is better to expect disappointing news then to get your hopes up and dashed on the 14th. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I don't know sweetie, you are getting a lot of advice here, I agree with most of it, the rest of it is just people being stupid. All you can do I guess is wait. Good luck honey and try not to focus so much on this, I know it's hard, but if you're stressing about it, thats not good for making it happen.

Even without being rough, sometimes after sex, your cervix can be irritaited and have small bleeding.
