If you put one in the other, nothing will happen. Diesel will not be easily ignited by the spark plugs and would flood the engine. Gas in a diesel engine would not easily combust under the pressure.

If you only did it once you might be able to get away with it, it really depends on how much of the proper fuel was in the tank to begin with, it will run like shite but it should be ok if the concentration isnt that great. Otherwise they are right be prepared to buy a whole new engine as the two engine types run on completely different concepts, diesel on compression and petrolon combustion.

It stops running. If you put petrol in a diesel engine, then you will have to drain the fuel system and refill it with diesel, no perminent harm done. On the other hand if you put diesel in an engine that was ment to use petrol you may have to clean out the injectors.

Gasoline in a diesel engine is an explosive sitation. Diesel in a gas engine will make it run poorly but will eventually burn it out if you can get it started

i wouldn't do that. They are not the same product. They will mess you vehicle up and total it out. Diesel engines are not made like gasoline engines......if you dont want to replace your vehicle....put in the RIGHT kind of fuel.
