In the 1930s, Leonard Thompson succeeded his father-in-law to become Managing Director of the Company. This decade saw the introduction of many new rides, including The Rollercoaster, The Pleasure Beach Express, and the world-famous twin track coaster, The Grand National.
Pleasure Beach, Blackpool remains Britain's number one tourist attraction. With over 6.2 million visitors now travelling to Britain's No. 1 Resort Theme Park every year, no wonder they call it The Entertainment Adventure Capital of The World.

The only thing I will add is that Blackpool Pleasure Beach has one of only about 3 wooden Wild Mouse rolercoasters in the world and one of only 2 twin racing rollercoasters on the same track (the Grand National) and it is by far the theme park with the most sense of preservation of its ride as they were originally built- if only most people who went there were in as good shape as some of these historic rides!

It is a truly world class site for historic rides.

The park was founded in 1896 by Alderman William George Bean, who said his intent was to create "...an American Style Amusement Park, the fundamental principle of which is to make adults feel like children again and to inspire gaiety of a primarily innocent character."

The original Ghost Train was opened in 1930, before being replaced by the ride currently in use today.
