Ok try this out!
The easiest and safest thing would be to just watch someone who limps. If you want to get a feel for it quickly, use a couple of props, but this could be damaging if you prolong their use so beware.

Steps
Put a resilient but smooth object in the shoe of the limping leg. Place it under the foot. You may need to secure it with duct tape.
Take a step with your good foot, then gingerly ease your bad foot to the floor. Skip a beat, then stiffly pick up your good foot and place it back down. After awhile, you can easily do this without thinking.
One huge mistake people make is having the bad foot stay on the floor longer than the good foot. If you're having your left foot pass off the floor quickly, you've injured your left foot!

Tips
If you need to do this for an extended time, only use the props to get a feel of the movement.
Try to have a rail or some support while working on the movement.
Act as though one leg is about a half inch longer than the other. Half standing on you toes works, well. (When you put the non longer leg down, put it down with some force, like you are lightly stomping) But don't make it obvious, and don't exaggerate the stomping or the long leg"nes".
Move the "injured" leg slowly through the air.
Only set down the toes of the "injured" leg and push off lightly. If you do this right, it's actually possible to avoid putting any weight on that leg, because what you're really doing is hopping with the other leg. Putting the toes of the "injured" leg down is just so you can balance.
Practice if one of your feet or legs hurt and pay close attention to what eases the pain and what doesn't.

Warnings
Always stop if it hurts. You only want to act lame, not give yourself a real limp.
If you have crutches from a past injury, then don't just walk and put them down occasionally, because it looks so fake. What you do is, walk one step on your good foot, and then put your crutches bad foot on the ground at the same time. Then, put your weight on your crutches, and start again.
If you pretend to limp too long and your legs aren't particularly strong, your "good" leg will get very tired and the muscles will start to hurt. If this happens, rest your legs as soon as you can until the muscles recover.

You do not have to fake, it can be painful! You only need to
buy the crutches, practise a couple of days, have a cast put
on, or buy a ready made immobiliser preferably from foot to
above the knee. Try and obtain someone‘s X-ray from a
friend, cut out his name or you will be caught. And prepare
your wallet because all this could be a little expensive!

there's other ways of getting attention, and getting the girl, without faking an injury to get crutches.

Just go rent them at a medical supply store.

Why would you want to fake something anyway. Crutches are a pain.
