I had a male snake when I was very young, his name was Angus. I wouldnt worry if your snake is male or female. Since snakes dont "Hear" the way we do whatever you name it it will never know anyway.

When in doubt about the sex of a snake then take it to a herpetologist (reptile specialist) and have the snake "probed" to see what sex it is.
I had 2 male snakes; a corn snake named Pete and a bull snake named Bart.

My son has a "Ball Python."
In Europe and Mexico this snake is called a "Royal Python" (pithon real) instead.
So because we live in Mexico and we also like the name "Royal Python," much better than "Ball Python" we ended up calling him "Roy," see?
Only now we have the same problem as you, we found out "Roy" is a girl snake. But we just said "aw, screw it!" and she's been "Roy" for three years, she's still "Roy."

You could name it something neutral. My snakes have been Casey, Gimli, Legolas (Lego) and Sticky. I just pick random names sometimes, like Sticky.
