For a legal seperation a attorney is involved. If you want the seperation to be filed with the court then yes, it will cost money.

Anything that is "legal" costs money! There are papers to file with the court, they will charge you to file them. Check with your county to see if this can be done by you instead of a lawyer, you also can download the forms you need on line.

A legal seperation can be by agreement BUT is you are manking arrangements as to property and future rights, it is wise to consult and attorney.. If you arent fighting, the cost is low; and i assume there are no children
