Great question! Id like to see the lions make the playoffs this year and start a trend in Detroit. They have the talent, but putting it together is the hard part. The Lions were a good team when Wayne Fonts was the coach and to this day I still think the organization gave him a raw deal, I felt so damn sorry for him, he was up on the TV just a crying, boy i almost cried with him, they should have kept him a couple more years, that would have been the team to make it. But alas, I think they have a great deal to do to make it, so id say no, as much as this hurts to say, not this year. For me personally, Denver is my team and has been for 30 years, but ill tell ya this Detroit runs a close 2nd. Really love to see them do good. take care pal.

The Lions actually do have a shot at making the playoffs this year. They have made some changes upstairs that hopefully will be a positive influx throughout the food chain. If the Bears falter, the door could swing open for the Lions to slide in.

* BTW, Martz did not the Rams offensive system in St Louis.

Detroit lions fans are the most beat up loyal fans in the nation.
I don't think they will ever do anything until they get a new owner.
William Clay Ford will not spend any money on this team because the stands are filled every week.
No.. the lions will continue to find new and creative ways to loose every week.
Detroit is a drinking town ...with a football problem!

I notice that no one yet has mentioned Mike Martz being their Offensive Coordinator. he is not a good Head Coach, but as an offensive coord. he created a system in St. Louis that was powerful for years and led a team with Kurt Warner as the QB to a Superbowl. Their new head coach is defensive minded which balances well with martz. Now they have a good foundation in a choaching staff, they need players. No, they will not make the playoffs this year, but give them 2-3 years and Detroit should be contenders.

I'm a Lions fan, but believe me they will not make the playoffs. Matt Millen is the worst GM in the league.Look at his 1st round draft picks.......Harrington gone.....Rogers....soon to be cut... Mike Williams...no speed and has been a total bust.and this year they passed on Leinart and drafted a undersized linebacker who has a history of head injurys. How in the hell can you pass up a franchise Q.B when your starter is Jon Kitna ? They Drafted Sims because they wanted to improve the team now rather then looking to the future. Big Mistake They are desprate to hold on to their jobs. This team will not be any better then the trash they have been putting on the field for the last 10 years. It's a shame because Lions fans fill Ford Field only to be rewarded with a team and front office that makes constant mistakes.

Ask yourself can you part the Red Sea then ask yourself why you think this is a serious question to ask. My grandmother could get a hundred yards rushing against their front seven. I have not played football since highschool and even with 10 years of rust on me I could probably catch a touchdown pass over their short corners.
And Jon Kitna is their starting QB he is a statue at times in the pocket and holds the ball way too long. Any defense that sees him standing back their is licking their chops cause they can smell fresh meat.
By the time Detroit is good enough to make the playoffs cloning will be legal and they can just have Terry Bradshwaw as their qb and a 100 T.O.'s on offense.

Maybe. They are in an easy division and have upgraded at QB. Kitna, Williams, and Jones might all have great seasons and if they do the Lions might be back in the playoffs.
