First of all, skip Jeff G's answer. GM cars are not subpar and have received some of the highest quality ratings both initial and long term. The Malibu Maxx is a fine car. A nice blend between a regular wagon and a sedan. Like any car, drive it and see if you like it. I have talked to a few Maxx owners and they all give it high praise. The styling is a little on the conservative side. If you want to drive something that willl make you stand out look elsewhere but if you want a practical, reliable, utilitarian car go with the Maxx.

I've rented the Malibu Maxx a couple of times and thought it was a decent car, particularly for a family. It is very competitively priced too. You can read my review of a 2005 Malibu Maxx on Epinions at the link below.

Don't have one, but I've driven one. Let's put it this way. I'm 5'6'', 160 pounds, and the Maxx was a tight squeeze for me. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to small a car. Get the regular Malibu, or better yet, a Monte Carlo SS.

This is a Chevy - new GM vehicles are sub-par when it comes to comfort and quality. You may have a 3/36K warranty, but after 36K, it's all down hill from there.
Consider a Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion, or Honda Accord.

My ex and I tried a Chevy Malibu out a few yrs . back . We were not very impressed by it. Seemed like a toy.
