Now it's like the norm. Do you still think it's trashy? Why or why not?

It's only the norm among a segment of the female population. And it's not the only popular thing that I'd consider not only trashy but downright uncomfortable. Well, this too shall pass. Today's hot look is tomorrow's "Why did I ever wear THAT?"

Hmm... I don't really remember that wearing flops in public meant you were trashy but I DO remember that if you wore destroyed jeans in public it would give off a trashy vibe about you. But then, the destroyed look became a huge craze and was totally in and now it's fading away.
I don't think it's trashy to wear flip flops unless they really ARE trashy (beaten up and worn out). And as long as they are cute, they aren't trashy!

I actually don't remember that, but I'll take your word for it. I don't think it's trashy- they're just a low-maintenence type of shoe. I have a pretty strict dress code at my school, but we're still allowed to wear flip-flops.

Yeah, its still REAL trashy. The problem is just that being trashy is now the "norm"......

i dont think its trashy. i wear them in public and i didnt know it was trashy back then. but whatever, some people like to wear them because they are more comfortable than heel-killing heels.

yes I remember them. I like them,but I don't wear them everywhere. I don't hold out to the "Trashy" term. Never did like it.
That's like saying, a Chanel suit wearer is anal.(which some are)

Nah, they're not trashy. I personally don't like them unless I'm going to the beach and I want to be able to slip them off easily. They're uncomfortable to wear and they ruin your feet.
