Why can't people see that if we will develop a new system that doesn't use petroleum, which is very feasible thru biotechnology that our terrorist problem will go away. The terrorist leaders have said if we get out of their land they will leave us alone. Now I don't give a crap what they want, I would just as soon bomb them to hell but why not solve the problem and live in peace, oil is the culprit. it gives them their money to do the things they do so if we don't buy it we cut their financing. but we have oil people running our government and they want oil to be the main fuel which is dirty and oil to make our products which can be made from corn and other crops. The truth is we like to set up puppet governments in other countries and let our corporations go after their natural resources, therefore making certain people very rich which in turn creates problems then they cry you need us or the terrorist will get you. I say no we don't need the oil people we need some new leaders!

The notion that they blackmail us is right and I believe some like it that way.

We are hostage to foreign oil. Our purchases of crude oil are helping these governments, particularly Iran, buy weapons for terrorist organizations (hezbollah).

I am of the opinion that those of us that drive gas guzzling SUVs and Pickups, are unwittingly supporting terrorism.

Leadership is needed, but not just from the President. What an easy target he is these days. He is not gaining gigantic wealth by sitting on this problem. What happened to the "War for Oil" cries we were hearing just a couple of years ago? Guess what, we did not go into Iraq and take their oil. But dang it, sometimes I wish we would have done that, and nothing else!

Leadership needs to come from the President, both houses, and it also needs to come from the American people.

We have in place a giant infrastructure tied to crude oil importation and refining. This needs to change, jobs and resources shifted from importation to renewable bio fuels.

We are a market driven economy, as the cost increases, it will become easier to shift. The pressure will become greater and greater as the cost increases, due to completion for oil from China and India.

The answer is to begin pouring our vast resources, (intellectual, and monetary) into the development of Bio-Fuels. It needs to exceed our efforts made on the Manhattan project, or the Apollo program.

There is no other issue, tied to our way of life that can impact us as much transportation fuel. Without cheap efficient individual transportation, our economy disintegrates.

Let us all keep pushing and urging, let people and our leaders know. "FIX THIS PROBLEM NOW!". We cannot delay.

I agree with you in general, but unfortunately our country is about making money and people looking out for themselves (cough cough, George Bush) and if there is someone runnign for office that has your opinion i would vote for them in a minute, but the problem is that we will never get a politician with your attitude because politicians have to play the Bull*hit game to climb high enough to get put in a big office position. Its a catch 22...

Oil is just the tool being used in this day and age to control our society, 100 years from now it will be something else, the problem is the way our government manages everything, from city all the way up to federal government i see endless issues resulting from running a company that has no need to be efficient because they just raise/shift taxes form here to there. If any level of our goverment was run like a real business, they would fold very quickly. Effieciency is a mute point and all the employees dont want to rock the boat cause they will lose their free ride, The day in which goverment workers have pride in what they do and they do a good job is over, i'm sure there are some people mixed in that help, but the 10% of hard workers will forever be making up for the 90% who are only looking out for themselves and there easy paycheck.

Oil is definitely a factor in the problem with the Muslim nations. Unfortunately they have their hands at the oil tap and they are able to blackmail and extort us because they can do incredible damage to our Western economies. Especially Europe is very susceptible to this type of pressure. France, for instance, has practically become a slave to Muslim political interests.
Isn't it time for our leaders to start a new Manhattan Project, like the one in WWII that created the atomic bomb, but this time one to develop alternative sources of energy to make us impervious to oil blackmail? Maybe, just maybe, our leaders are not as stupid as they seem to be and a new Manhattan Energy Project is underway, without the public knowing it. I sincerely hope so.

Kennedy said we would put a man on the moon within an decade. Why can't the same effort be put into developing renewable, and efficient energy. I agree about the new leaders as Bush and cronies have defended the oil company's time and time again.

Oil is not the cause of terrorism, terrorists are.

Oil is just the source of funding for terrorists, but they would still be terrorists if we never used a drop of oil.

It would be nice but there are no suitable alternatives to oil at the moment. Most other fuel sources cost even more to produce and use and are far less efficient.

Then run for office or roll up your sleeves and get busy developing alternative fuels.
