Beckham does not have to give up football to help youngsters. Check this out....

Hong Kong - Asia's first David Beckham football academy may be set up in Hong Kong at a cost of at least 10 million US dollars, a news report said Saturday.

Managers of the academy named after the Real Madrid star plan to visit Hong Kong next month to decide if it is suitable, the South China Morning Post reported.

If the academy is set up, it would train 20,000 youngsters a year from around the region and would cost between 10 million and 18 million US dollars, the newspaper said.

Beckham, who captained England's failed World Cup campaign and is hugely popular in Hong Kong where football is the leading sport on television, would visit at least once a year.

Students would stay in dormitories at the academy and be trained in physiology and biology as well as footballing skills.

The David Beckham Academy already has branches in London and Los Angeles and is also looking at cities in China - including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen - as possible sites for its Asian base.

A spokesman for AEG, which partners David Beckham in setting up the academies, told the newspaper, 'Other countries like India, Korea and (countries in) the Middle East have expressed strong interest as well.'

However, he added: 'The city has to be a hub and Hong Kong fits ... Whether a city has existing sports facilities will be a factor, since it could lower the cost.'

AEG is seeking local partners in Hong Kong and other Asian countries to set up the Asian branch of the academy and hopes to open it by 2008.

Give up football, probably not.

Train youngsters, definately NOT.

Prior to the 2006 finals I watched a replay of the England, Germany final of 1966. What a pleasant experience it was with football at its best. No vicious attacks, leg breaking tackles, aggression, spitting at each other or any other non- sportsman like action, just simply football at its entertaining best played by MASTERS of the sport. And this team WON the World Cup, so pay attention England team of today and learn.

So definately no Beckham training of youngsters who would probably turn out like the majority of the Animals of today supposedly playing FOOTBALL!!

No Beckham has at least another 3-4 years in him and he wont go into coaching youngster's because he is too much of a celebrity to become a coach. He will most likely to move to the MLS and become an Actor.

i dont think so, but he already has his academy in London. He has just signed an extention at Real Madrid today. He was very poor in world cup but then so were most of the stars really. I'm a huge Beckham fan. He has been down before and the only way to answer his critics is too pick himself up and get himself playing like he once did. I wouldnt of dropped Beckham from the squad but agree he shouldnt of been captain. He's not a leader. But when he does play well he plays real good. I would love to see him play well for Real Madrid and then lets see if he gets another call up for England.

I do recommend that he should give up foot ball but not to coach the youngsters...Coz he rather likes to promote STYLES not football strategics and still he is not first class player england had ever produced nor he won a world cup for england...

I would suggest if england really needs an assistance of coaching from a modern player then my answer would be Zidane or Ronaldino (Needless to say whatz their acheivement in world football game)

Well if he has one more season without any trophy with Real, he should move to some other club.....but quittin would be a very bad decision. Hes still the best crosser of the ball and still gives goalkeepers a hard time with his bending free kicks....i dont think he shud retire for at least a few more years........

He is too young to give up football, I guess this season will be an important one for him at Real Madrid. If he has a disaster of a season then he may give up playing, considering his International career with England is deemed finished at present.

Real just renewed his contract so why should he and just because he was a good footballer doesn't necessarily mean he will be a good coach. In fact Ferguson,Benitez , Mourinho and Wenger couldn't play football to save themselves but they manage the best 4 clubs.
