This does not pertain to me, it is just a question I have wondered since there are so many online predators getting caught.

it is their first offense, the victim is a teen and the convict is in his 20's.

Depends if its consensual- CSC - can be 15 to 25 years- if its consensual and girl is in her teens, Probation. it also matters the age spread between the parties, for example, 15 year old girl and 18 yo Boy, its not so stiff. 15 yo girl and 23 Yo Boy, prison for near certain.

Well, I know of a case similar to that and the victim even ended up pregnant. Supposedly she fought back and it wasn't consensual but for some reason he only got charged with statutory rape. Maybe I'm not getting told the whole story but also keep in mind this was 13 years ago.

It varies by state and even by the judge and/or jury presiding over the case....
once in jail, inmates who were arrested for hurting children are considered the absolute bottom of the latrine by the other inmates and are often beaten or even killed by the other guys, many of which have children of their own....

30 to 60 years. parole possible after 15 years. Personally I think they should get life!
