Well, I don't believe that Ducati makes a cruiser. If you want a bike for riding around, with the possibility for definite speed, and you've got to have a pricy Ducati - consider the Monster. The Ducati Monster is basically a naked sport or a street fighter. It's a very nice bike, but prepare to pay approx. $10K - $14K.
If you want a nice cruising bike, considered the top of its class, comfortable, and powerful - consider the Yamaha V-Max - it's under $12K. Or, you can consider something like a Honda 599 (Around $7500) or a Kawasaki Z1000S (around $8K).
These are nice "naked sports" as well. The V-Max is a true hotrod, not a naked sport - it's bad-***!

None of these people have ever heard of a Ducati Monster? Come on, they make more than just race bikes!
The least expensive Ducati will be the Monster 695, and will run about $7,000 new. You can probably find a used Monster for $5,000 or so if you look around.
The Monster is classed as a "standard" motorcycle, meaning it's pretty much just upright. You sit on it rather than leaning forward or lounging backward, there is no fairing and no windscreen. Go take a look at Ducati's website and see for yourself!

If you just want to cruise, then a Duke isn't for you. However, they run 9-12 thousand. In that price range, for cruising I recommend a Harley Sportster; either 883 Low or 1200 Low. Low means the suspension is set low for ease of handling. Great for cruising, but if you get the need for speed they have that too.

if you don't want a harley but a cruiser type bike you might consider a sport touring motorcycle...these bikes don't have such an aggressive riding position as traditional street bikes and still have performance comparable to the Ducs...Suzuki Katanas, Honda CBR F4i, Kawasaki ZZR 600,1200,ZX14 and even the Hayabusa fall in this range...however be careful on the Hayabusa and zx14 both bikes can hit 200 plus(with a TRE) in 18 seconds
