Everyone I know that smokes has emphysema, but when you drink you are being a danger to yourself and others.
Just a few minutes ago I was reading about a drunk driver killing a little girl and her mother and when you are drinking you can hurt alot of people mentally and physically so really this question needs serious thought. I personally do neither but if I did have to choose I would smoke.Less harm to others even if there is second hand smoke, it wont run you over and kill you.

Least evil to people around you must be smoking! Smoking tobacco doesn't alter your mind and make you more violent, unable to drive and unable to make rational decisions.

Alcohol causes immediate (sometimes fatal) damage to others when taken in excess, yet is freely available everywhere.

Cigarette's effect others only through passive smoking, which is being legislated against all the time and I've never seen anyone killed instantly by passive smoking.

Smoking is really, really bad; but in my opinion, drinking just has the edge over it.

Difficult choice, but I would say drinking is the lesser evil
when you drink it's just you who gets polluted, when you're having a fa g everyone smokes your smoke

also, i would hope you don't drink 20 every day, whereas smoking is so addictive you can have a pack a day or even more without count

If we take men, smoking reduces the function of their sertoli cells (which means bad sperm, lads!), whereas if they're just trashed, no one will sleep with them so they're not so much in danger of producing freaks he-he :) With women both are equally damaging so why ask

This is hard!

Both are addictive but drinking can be controlled.

I would say smoking because you rarely be a social smoker (like with drinking) so its a daily habit, v.costly (you can always find cheap booze), it can ruin your health (various cancers and breathing problems but again so can alchohol if you drinking too much), it affects your appearance (hair, body, fingers, breath smells, you get dark circles, wrinkles esp round the mouth), it can cause your metabolism to unnaturally speed up, it can affect your mood/stress levels (you become ratty if you haven't had a ciggie and/or if stressed you just would die for a ciggie and make chain smoke).

Neither drinking or smoking are great for you, but since I can drink without subjecting others to involuntary second hand effects I'll go with drinking being the less evil of the two.

Smoking is the most evil, and worst one there can be, as I am a non smoker, and people who smoke around you are also killing you slowly, making your clothes stink of that foul smoke, I mean do we all want to get lung cancer, heart disease? a cigarette contains nicotine, and the paper itself puts out a lethal chemical, and that is why the lungs of a smoker you can tarmac the roads with, I think it would be great if they was to ban smoking altogether in the mere future as it is killing lots of people around the world every year, what a disgusting habit to everbeen discovered many hundreds & hundreds of years ago or may more, but Yeah smoking is pure evil!!!!!

Neither.

If I _have_ to choose one, it would be drinking - but with GREAT moderation. Smoking is out of the question for me, but I also have a sufficient number of drunkards around me right now to be able to appreciate - temperation, temperation, temperation.

Why no smoking - smoking can harm strangers. Drinking, unles you drink & drive, will probably only harm those people who choose to be closely related to you. Both can cause sever problems, though.

If you drink then you at least get drunk, if you smoke p0t then you get stoned, if you smoke cigarettes you just get cancer. I smoke and have done for years, I also drink and I have to say both are pretty naff habits but drinking in moderation in a social sense is good, when do you ever feel that way about smoking?

Huh...tough one. Both are addictive and business is run by the government. Alcohol becomes a nerve poison due to enzymatic activity. If you get used to it, you will die of liver disease (plus related circulatory diseases). It can destroy the life of not only yours, but also your beloved ones.
Cigarettes...nicotine acts on n-ACh receptors, it's an agonist, dopamin will get released which causes a really pleasant feeling. So it is also very addictive. If you are smoking, you will stuff your lungs up with tar and carbomonoxyde...I've seen an open lung that belonged to a heavy smoker...it was black...

Well, to make a long story short, if my life was depending on it, even then I would say, no thanks to either of these, because these are slow killers, and I'm a coward, I'd like to die fast.

Drinking is least evil, you dont drink to become addicted, you (well most) drink to have a good time or relax. Being a non-smoker I can only suggest that people just smoke to look cool and take it as a new habbit.
