This sounds like an anxiety based dream. Maybe you feel this is something keeping you from doing what you want to do in your life. There are too many obstacles in your path of life. Dreams about not being able to get somewhere or do things are very common. I can never make a phone call in my dreams. Either the phone is dead, I can't dial the number, or whoever I get on the other end is a complete idiot and puts me on hold or hangs up on me.

I have had this sort of dream quite often, over the years. I am always walking along the same poorly lit streets, and turning off the main route, even when I know I shouldn't. The oddest part is, I meet people whom I recognise and speak to, but outside of the dream I have never known them! Not an answer ,I know, sorry.

It seems to me that maybe in real life you are creating your own obstacles to stop you gaining inner peace and being able to relax, NO OBSTACLE CAN TRULY STOP YOU GOING HOME.
Spend more time with your family, this is where truth is, stop making excuses because that is all they really are. Your home (family) is more important than anything else.

if you cannot reach there by land, use flight to reach your destination. In the mean time you will get top view of your obstacles.
