Your question should be can you give me this much salary. Then look for the companies who have potential for growth. Now ask the HR manager of the selected company that I have this much exp and Qualification. I would join you if you can pay me this much.
This is right way if you are a confident personality. Otherwise apply to vacanies and join them on their terms.

Try to be unique.
How To get a good Salary

Better Idea to get a good Salary is Market your self

Make a sample site showing your skills include CV in it
The Idea of using such approach is Just to let know people who you are and how can be you used in a company. If Company find your self usefull they will offer a good package.

Your Site should not be a collection of Stupid Data sheets.
Try to make it More Eye caching.
The Reason Behind is Many HR in the indstry is non technical
So basically they don't understand why you says.
Speak there language if you want to get good packages

Making a site is not too much investement. Less then the most popular naukari.com offer.

Use your Site Address in your CV that's why companies looking for more info can visit at your site. Believe if you are applying in good companies they will look at it.

Companies are selling there products and you are selling your skills. Both Needs Marketting.

The salary/remuneration for a particular job is the market value for a particular profession and designation at the city/town where the office is located. Job postings at websites like Monster, Yahoo HotJobs and Careerbuilder carry information about salaries. The Govt Dept of Labor, (www.bls.gov) Bureau of statistics has information about median salaries for different professions and details of additional compensation offered. Other online resources are salary.com and payscale. Your salary will also depend on your educational qualification and how you handle your career. Well, if you have 9 years experience that means you already have a salary history.

Aim for a salary that's 15 to 20% above your most recent salary.
