Within that space of time the UK will run out of North Sea oil and there will be a financial and economic crisis and a political upheaval. And the Government of the day will have to make some sense out of all the budget waste and low-level corruption and high-level scams. And deal with such things as a punitive IHT estate tax system that will fall on everybody living in the Southeast because of real estate price rises.

And meanwhile there will have been devaluation of the pound Sterling, because the dollar will have collapsed due to Bush's wasting of assets (his tax gift to the rich of the Clinton surplus in the Treasury; the indebtedness of America to the Chinese and other foreigners) and all the other messes like Iraq.

The king is for the tourists and to meet foreign ambassadors when they come calling. It doesn't much matter. Except that Charles is an idiot and Camilla is an ugly embarrassment.

In 25 years England will be lead by a King with vision enough to look toward Europe. All of Europe will be fabulously wealthy and the American president will suck up to England because it will be the only country that pays them any attention.

Of course well have a king within the next 25 years - can you see the Queen staying instate for that long? The question is who willl it be... Charles is getting on a bit himself, and I doubt he'd take the role of monarch, and Camilla's too unpopular to be at his side.

And there's no way we'd get a democratic state either, the royals like their gin/shooting/generally doing nothing too much.
