Well, I just got a christina piercing last night. If you dont know what it is, its kind of hard to explain, so just look it up. And it was pierced as 16 gauge. After it heals, Id like it to be 14 gauge. How do I go about doing this?

be sure it is finished healing, and I'd seriously consider finding another artist as a 16g shouldn't have been used to pierce you...none in this area should be below a 14 and if possible larger due to the abuse. I wonder about the length of the jewelry used also as this is very prone to rejection especially with such a small gauge in there now. There isn't much difference in the size so you could use a bit of lube and slide an INTERANLLY threaded piece in or if not, I'd suggest going back to the studio to have them put in something for you. You can buy a taper if you feel comfortable doing it that way, it's up to you.

Hiya, i am a piercer. The easiest way to get from a 16 to 14 is once it has healed for about 6 weeks is to get a captive bead ring that is 14 ga and lubricate it with a triple antibiotic oinment. It may be a little tough to get through, but shouldnt be that bad. there isnt that much difference between 16 and 14. Leave ring in for about 2 weeks and then switch to what ever you want. You could possible switch back to a barbell sooner, depending on how it feels. Good luck, and hope this does it for you.

Agreeing with Scarlet Bat - the pierce should've been done at 14 ga.

And yes, the size difference is minimal, so getting a taper is essentially a waste of money. When it's healed up, get 14 ga jewelry, lube it up (KY, or some other lubricant) and treat it like a new piercing with the cleaning.

Good luck!

just buy a little set of tapers, or spikes if you will, from hot topic or one of those stores you kids like to shop at in the mall. we usually just get a little drink in us, and the difference between those two gauges isn't that great, well we would just shove it through.

Hey there, i'm assuming these are the big holes that are in fashion. I saw a thing on dateline or one of those news stations where this is actually bad for your ears. If you get holes big enough, they will never grow back and your ear will always be like that. One guy had to have his ears surgically repaired after he got a bad infection in them, and they still didn't look normal. I would highly suggest to stop doing this. Plus, it is only a fad, and if you keep with it you'll have to live with the holes the rest of your life.
