No. The population of Japan is about half of U.S. population. In order for the Japanese economy to be bigger than the U.S. economy, it would have to have more than twice U.S. GDP per capita. There definitely are countries in the world that have higher GDP per capita than the U.S. does, but twice U.S. GDP per capita so far remains elusive...
