I LOVE French music (and anything French for that matter). I was just in Paris and picked up my latest collection from fnac. I bought Benabar, M, the latest Corneille (not as good as his last CD) and Pauline Croze. I recently discovered Diam's who are amazing. Other favourites in my CD collection are: Kyo, calogero, Zazie, la Grande Sophie (I know no one else likes her) and Jonatan from Nouvelle Star. :)

I only remember Sacha Distel, Johnny Hallyday, Jean Michel Jarre and MC Solaar & weren't really into them.

I would say: Justice, Air, Daft Punk, and Phoenix. They're all techno artists in French House (Justice and Daft Punk are from Paris, Air and Phoenix are from Versailles.

I live in France, so perhaps not what you were looking for. However, artists I'd heard of in the UK include Dany Brillant, Nouvelle Vague, Vanessa Paradis, Serge Gainsbourg, and of course Johnny :-)

I like Yann Tiersen, the guy that did the Amelie soundtrack. Apart from that, the French music I listen to is older, ie Serge Gainsbourg
