I find them rather annoying and a bit pointless, as they don't seem to have a clue what we're talking about... white dog poo, pigeon street, butties vs sarnies etc. What about you?

Thanks for answers so far. Sometimes I see that an American has spent ages on an answer about education, social services, employment law etc. and it's all redundant because it's obviously a UK question.

No one is saying the Americans or anyone else are not welcome here. But would you go on Spanish Yahoo, talk in English and answer all questions as if the asker lived in England?
I saw one answer to a take away question that was just a statement that "its take out, not take away". I've seen answers 'what is a dog lead, do you mean leash?' The money answers are always in dollars. The suggestions for activities for kids in the summer holidays were hilarious.
I wish they'd remember they are visiting the UK and we are not in the States when they answer.

It is true that some of the answers don't relate at all to the UK questions, but instead of finding them annoying, why don't you take it with a pinch of salt, and have a laugh. Plus, both sides are learning about a different culture that way, and that is always an interesting thing to see!

As a Canadian I find them hilarious! Sort of like watching cousins floundering around each other, very amusing; that American forthright expression and English dry crashing together. The expression the blind leading the blind springs to mind. I really enjoy the colloquials getting confused between them. Throw in the occasional Scot and it's a sit com come to life! Oh I just love this medium, it's really super sized my capacity for humour! Joy la vie! Mon frair's, et Anglis mer; superb! Keep it coming Love, don't stop it now!

I would think it would give you something to laugh at. I read some answers that make me hopping mad; but, they're so clever, I just have to laugh.

Loosen up. Probably it works the other way around, too.

I'm just so grateful we get to know each other this way.

Besides, my grandpa was born in London, so I get to answer if I want to. I've got your blood in me veins.

And besides that, "The earth is one country, and mankind its citizens." I'm a World Citizen. Get over your separateness. Join the human race. It's more fun this way. It's a great world; why cut it all up in pieces. We're all on this Spaceship Earth together; let's have a good flight!

although they may sometimes not get the point of a typical English saying, or phrase, i find it a bit much to say that all answers from Americans are pointless.
One thing i have noticed is that quite often the americans can give good from the heart advice, and are not afraid of revealing things about themselves. In comparison, many English are sarcastic little so and so's!!(me included sometimes!).

Take each answer for what the answer contains, not who or where it came from!!

It's always an enlightening experience to see other users' answers, American or not. Just shows the differences between cultures.
Can even be amusing. Don't take it to heart. Ignore the answers you don't like.
It's better to be insulted than ignored, as me mam would say.

I totally agree with "Cotes du Rhone girl". Chill out man. Ignore bollix answers. It is very amusing reading American answers to non-American related questions. Shows their lack of worldy knowledge. Long may it continue .. the questions not the Americans. ;)

I am sure the Americans mean well like when we answer their questions but most of the time their answers are irrelevelant or don't make much sense..we in different zones!

The only thing is the misunderstanding, i wish they and others would read the question or even the category they are answering.

But the Yanks are more than welcome to answer questions like my next one
