I like BMW, Triumph and Ducatti
But it all depends on the style you are looking for as well as the type of riding you plan on doing

Harley Davidson makes the best motorcycle; all the rest are just bikes. But from the meat of your questions, you should probably look into a Vespa.

Harley's are the best - and of course the most expensive. But they do retain their value more than any others - if you ever go to it - you will get top dollar for it. Victory, who took over Indian, is also known for quality.

The Jap four are the best for the money, handling, speed, dependability, dealer support and ease of getting parts.
Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha. Not necessarily in that order.

If you can afford it, I think BMW's are the best! I of course can't afford it, so I think in my price range Honda's are the best. I've got a v-45 magna, and just love it!
