Breast wins ever time. I breast fed my 2 kids for 6 months each and it was the most fullfilling thing i have ever done. It has so many benefits for the baby. It also helps you get your figure back and i have not got saggy boobs as someone else suggested. It is very rewarding and would advise anyone to at least try it.

It very convenient too. No bottles, heating milk in the middle of the night or carring feeds everywhere. Its also very cheap. You go for it.

I breast fed my first baby for about 4 days, while I was in hospital.I was a bit worried about coming home, as I was a single mother, and my father would be around, and so I put her onto the bottle. She was fed every 4 hours, and it was fairly straight forward. My second daughter was breast fed, I really wanted to do it, and being in different circumstances,(married and own home) and having had tried for 6 years to get pregnant, really motivated me to do it.It is hard work, and at about 4 weeks old, when I was exhausted, my health visitor asked me to carry on for 2 more weeks and if by then, things hadn't gotten any better then I should put her on a bottle. It was the best piece of advice I ever had as I carried on breast feeding her until she was nearly 11months old.I never needed nipple shields or anything like that, and didn't really find it a problem.Yes, your breasts will become hard and uncomfortable, but it is so worth it when your proper milk comes in and baby can be fed wherever you are, no need for heating up bottles then waiting on them to cool and a hungry baby waiting to be fed.My breasts are NOT saggy, and I look back and feel ever so proud of my achievement.I have a niece pregnant and going through the same thoughts, and all I have said to her is give it a good go, dont worry, do what you feel is best for your baby, if you want to do it, do it. Its all too easy in this society of trying to make things easier.People who dont breast feed at all can sometimes make people who are trying to breast feed give up too early by saying things like, oh, you have to think of yourself, why you putting yourself through it?And then, a tired new mum can think it might be better for her child to give in and put on bottle. There are many people out there on the other hand that make mums who bottle feed feel inferior, and thats not any good either. My last piece of advice is to go to Boots Chemist and get breast shells. So many people have never seen or heard of these, they think of nipple shields straight away and this is not what they are. When you are feeding baby, you pop one onto other nipple, it tucks into your bra and milk expels naturally so you can save this up, freeze it, or keep it for night time feed for hubby to do through the night. That way, as I found, baby gets used to a bottle teat too, and this gives you a little break now and again.Hope this has been of some help.

Breast feeding is healthiest for the baby. It gives the baby the most antibodies and other vitamins.. I say this knowing that there are women who cannot produce enough milk or for health reasons, cannot breast feed. They are the exceptions. But exclusivly bottle feeding(I mean with store bought formula) strictly out of sheer convenience is just plain selfish.

Breast feeding without a doubt, its better for the baby and for yourself. Its cheaper, you don't have to mess about with bottles and it is a lovely feeling watching your baby feed.

Bottle definitely. Our son was bottle fed and was so much brighter, alert and more content that the babies we knew who were breast fed. Even the midwife remarked on how healthy he looked when we took him to the Parentcraft Reunion, and said "you can tell he is nottle fed" - also it enabled my husband to bond with him, by giving him his bottle. My son grew up to be a slim child, if anything a little too slim, so theres no proof that bottle fed babies turn into fat kids, like some people think.

I bottle fed both of my boys but breast feeding is supposed to be much better for them. I just never liked the idea of having a baby suck on my tit

Breastfeeding is the best choice for your baby. You will give them more T-cells to help them fight off illnesses and they will gain weight more quickly. Studies show that breastfed babies are smarter, healthier, and even more confident than bottlefed. They also show that the chubbier your baby is the more easily i can learn and retain knowledge because it isn't fighting to survive. AND on top of all of this it is a definite way to really bond with yoru child.
