It may require an activation code. If the company can check if two seperate computers are updating you could find them disabled. If you've paid for the software, check the licence agreement. Some companies let you install on one computer, some on two or three, and some unlimited.
Avast is a really good antivirus free for home use.

simply yes, remember to note down the activation code and any other codes that are relevant to this anti-virus software
then its just a case of when you are up and running with the new p.c,install the ant-virus and it will ask you for your activation code ect
as long as its still not being used on the old machine(remove the software if you plan to sell it so to stop re-activation that will void your copy)it should be a straight forward installation and re-activation and update the virus database
remember that if you have used 6 months subsciption allready, you will only have 6 months left,it dosent go back to zero when you re-install it
i have a mate who reckons hes got a version of mcafee anti-virus thats a copy and hes getting updates, and hes registered it,funny how hes shouting out every other day"ive got another xxxxxx virus" enough said
good luck

You can use it in the other computer, but it will void the registration on the original computer. You would have to buy another licence for the other computer. Or, you can just use AVG...it's completely free!

it is but i have encountered the fact that it needs to be done within 18 days of purchase, you can use it as many times as you want, i used anti virus on 100 computers within 18 days after that doesnt work, but then you can always reprogram it and use it as many times as you want.

yes, of course... normally a CD is just reading thing, so you can use it as often as you want... it may be illegal... and it may have an online database, controlling, how many PC's the same version has... and blocking it if too many are using it.. but in general no problem....
