The term Great Britain was used by Germanic Angles, Saxons, Jutes, Danes, Franks to distinguish the Kingdom of the English speaking Germans from the Celtic Brythons of Wales, Scotland, and Northern England and Brittany in France. The English monarchs are not ethnically Britons. They are Germanic, not Celtic.

I would say the downfall of the English rugby team fills me with more pleasure than their empire's fall. I am semi-grateful for their colonising ways because it has led to me being born in Australia which is something I am eternally grateful for.

Which Empire? The one where we had control of many terroritories so much so that the "sun never set" on our Empire? Or so the famous phrase goes? Or hows about a little earlier when we controlled the Eastern Seaboard. Imagine, New York would still be under British control today.

We benefited a great deal from the Empires and colonies we created as did many of the people who were under our leadership. We implemented roads, transport and other infrastructure and set up banks, offices etc during our time there.

Much better than Iraq dont you think?
