The pictures on TV of the bombed people, cities and towns of Lebanon are almost beyong belief and too terrible to behold. And all without an ultimatum and for the kidnapping of two soldiers who are still alive and well.

Is that not a lesson to Iran on what terrible things can happen to countries which do not have atomic weapons? How can we be so selfish and naive as to expect other countries to accept double standards? What kind of justice do we believe in? If atom bombs are bad for some, they are bad for all.
I would be grateful for your views.

The US allegedly had the IAF test bombs against Hezbollah bunkers because Iran supposedly helped Hezbollah build them. They did this so that the US could eveluate plans for an attack against Iran using conventional munitions. Perhaps this will reduce the need for using nuclear weapons against Iran in the coming war.

Of course, I think Iran has even deeper bunkers. The US can still take them out, but it'd need nukes. The BLU-113 used in the GBU-28/37 could be mated with a W-79 linear-implosion type nuclear artillery shell physics package. This could place about a kiloton of explosive energy 125-200 feet underground, which should be enough to isolate, if not devestate, reinforced bunkers. Luckily, such a design would also reduce radiation and fallout, and would, thus, make it more likely to be used.

Well the lesson that should be learned is don't mess with Israel. If pushed too far they will strike back and they won't pull many punches when they do. Even if you win --You will lose. Hezbollah won the public relations war and Lebanon really got clobbered.

Iran shouldn't be allowed to have a nuke. They are just crazy enough to use it on Israel. And what would that accomplish? It might destroy Israel but no one would be able to live there afterwards. And the fallout would mess up a lot of the surrounding territory for decades.

Iran got exactly the results it was trying to create. Fear in the Israeli populace. Negative popular opinion for Israel. Hezbollah doesn't know it yet but they got hung out to dry. They are in a no win situation. Finally there will be a UN sponsored buffer between Israel and Iran . Iran can exercise its influence throughout the region now. Look for them to attack the Kurds in northwest Iraq.
