a hijacker changes your browser settings.. such as start side, default search side, favorites, hosts file etc. and sometimes it redirects you to some other side when you try to goto an side.. it is not good, delete it.... You can remove it with HijackThis.
I have a legal and moral obligation to keep my pc 100% clean. And I use an antivirus/spyware program out of Beijing, China.

A homepage hacker is a person who take over your homepage to track IP addresses to use for further malicious reasons REMOVE it as soon as possible.

What does its name imply? Have you lost your original home page? If not, you WILL! Remove it and any software you download that may have caused it!

yes you should!
also check what was the software you downloaded/installed that caused it.
Remove that as well
